Von Sinnen
An inclusive exhibtion about human and (un)common animal senses.

We experience the world through sight, sound, smell, touch, and taste. But nature holds far more ways of sensing reality than these five alone. Many animals and plants perceive their surroundings in ways that seem almost unimaginable to us. This exhibition invites you to explore that hidden world of sensation – from creatures that navigate using Earth’s magnetic field to rattlesnakes that can “see” the heat given off by their prey.

Together with Tactile Studio, I developed the concept for both the graphics and architecture of the temporary exhibition “Von Sinnen” – (Un)common Sense. With a focus on sustainability, I designed a reusable, demountable exhibition system for walls and pedestals. Spanning 700 square meters, the exhibition combined playfull, warm design with a high inclusive, tactile environment using contrasts and braille, accessible texts, videos in sign language, a tactile floor guidance system, an inclusive orientation map, and interactive stations.  The project received both the Expert Award and Consumer Award from the German Institute of Universal Design.
